Black Sabbath Bootleg Discography Update I spend a lot of time and money lately for my bootleg collection so a big update of the Black Sabbath Bootleg Album Discography has been released now, you can find it at http://www.black-sabbath.de -> see section "Textfiles" they are now over 200 different CDs and LPs listed, hopefully a big help for all collectors out there! I like to spend a few words concerning 'collecting bootlegs' these days: A very useful source for Black Sabbath boots is www.ebay.com as well as their local clones www.ebay.de, ebay.co.uk and so on. Most catalogues - online or classic - do not sell boots anymore, so online auctions are the best way to get the new stuff. A big problem always with private deals is, that you never can be sure if you bid for a CD or a CDR. Many dealers write it down in their description when they sell a silver CD, mostly not if it is a CDR. If nothing about CDR or silver CD is mentioned, you always should ask before bid and only bid, if you get a proper answer. Some ebay-sellers like walkinshadows, magenta@... as well as reflectionsintime@hotmail.com always seem to sell CDRs - they will tell you if you ask but it is not written in their item description. So be careful with them. The international music industry succeeced the last years with closing various "holes in the law" for making bootlegs, eg. Italy, Japan, Luxembourg - they all changed their laws drastically. (see also http://www.ifpi.org ) Except for some small issues from Italy and Brazil, 90% of todays silver bootleg CDs from Black Sabbath are released in Japan - which makes them usually very expensive. As written above, making silver CDs in Japan has become more difficult as in other countries too. This leads to another unfortunate effect: Japan is "releasing" CDRs like real bootlegs - professional recordings (sometimes), printed cover - CDR inside, sometimes labeled. Everybody can make up his own mind - but I simply refuse to pay the same price for a Japan CDR as for a Japan silver CD. I do not want to start any discussions, just my 0.02 $ ! >From what I have found out, the following CDs definitely have only been released as CDR in Japan - so if you see it on ebay or whatever, it only can be a CDR -, so is: BLACK SABBATH VEIL OF DOOM BLACK SABBATH LIVE AT HELL BLACK SABBATH ROCK'N' ROLL GYPSY BLACK SABBATH HEAVEN OR HELL BLACK SABBATH UNCONSCIOUS BLACK SABBATH SACRIFICE BLACK SABBATH HOLY WAR BLACK SABBATH READING FESTIVAL 83 BLACK SABBATH GATES OF GRAVE BLACK SABBATH HEAVEN AND GOD BLACK SABBATH LEGEND IN HELL (do not mix with "Legend In The Hell", Costa Mesa feat. Rob Halford) BLACK SABBATH WE LOVE YOU ALL BLACK SABBATH SWEET RELEAF 99 BLACK SABBATH REUNION OF CENTURY BLACK SABBATH NO HYPE NO GIMMICKS BLACK SABBATH CRAPE MYRTLE For some bootlegs in the discography I can not give definite infor- mation, there your help is needed: "Eternal Gillen" (tray left and right) or "Ray Gillen With Black Sabbath THE ETERNAL IDOL DEMOS" (on blue cover with white letters) - I received once a CDR copy from a guy who claimed to have the original silver CD. Lately I bought at ebay this CD (by FUCKHEAD RECORDS!) with slightly different cover (parts of a Ray Gillen shot can be seen on the first while the ladder is only blue and white). The ladder looks surely like a CDR, so it is with the first one? Anyone here with more information please email me - any help is highly appreciated. Definitely as double silver CD has been released "FRESNO 78" - but so far I only have the title and a scan of the front cover (golden with live shot). Anyone who can send me more details or sell me a copy please email me. Concerning the vinyl bootlegs: "Love In Chiago" - so far I do own two copies, one with b/w front cover, showing track list and a painting with demon altar and a woman lying infront of it - back cover is completely black, the other one has b/w group shot on frontcover and a b/w group shot on back together with the track list (same style as the first one). The ladder as b/w labels with "Berkeley Records (c) 1975" on it - seems to be the re-issue mentioned in Pete Sarfas list. The first one has yellow "Stonehead Record" labels and is listed as well in Sarfas' list. I soon will receive a third one with "red devil cover" - if those is with inserts than I do have all three mentioned in Pete Sarfas discography. If you know more or have a fourth version, please drop me a mail. Finally I will receive soon a 2nd copy of the famous double vinyl bootleg "Killing Yorself To Die" (note the spelling) - anyone who wants to trade or buy: please email me!
